Here is the e-mail that was sent for promoting the FLOWer database, blog and forum.

Dear colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce that version 1.0 of the FLOWer database is finally ready and online (http://flower.web.ua.pt/). After some serious problems with the programming of the previous version of the database, we are very glad that the first release of the database is up and running. You are welcome to visit it and I encourage you to use the database as a unique resource of publications on DNA flow cytometry in plant sciences. Your opinion is very important to us, so it would be nice to receive any feedback through the shoutbox available in the home page or directly to this e-mail. The database presently harbours 826 publications, and you are welcome to provide us with any missing ones through the contribution area available in the menu bar of the home page.

I also take this opportunity to let you know about the plant flow cytometry blog (http://flowerdatabase.blogspot.com/) and forum (http://flowerdatabase.20.forumer.com/index.php). Since its creation in late 2007, the blog has already been visited more than 2500 times. Some of the regular postings include the list of recently published papers on plant flow cytometry (monthly) and the list of FCM laboratories by country and we recently made an exhaustive coverage of the last ISAC Congress where for the first time two workshops and one tutorial dedicated to the application of flow cytometry in the study of plants cells were made.

The forum had already some interesting posts, but it is still in its infancy and in need of some more dynamism (my fault) and contributions (your turn). It is a resource available to all the plant flow cytometry community, so I encourage you to use it in case you have some doubts, problems, or simply for sharing your experience with the other researchers. The success of the forum strictly depends on its members!

Many thanks for the attention and I hope that you make good use of these resources.

With best regards,

João Loureiro
